W poszukiwaniu równowagi między niezależnością a wsparciem państwa – wyzwanie dla szwedzkich uniwersytetów ludowych

Od końca XVIII wieku szkoły ludowe (FHS) w Szwecji były ważnymi instytucjami dla rozwijającego się społeczeństwa obywatelskiego i Bildung. Będąc uznawane przez państwo, otrzymywały wsparcie finansowe i zaufanie. Chociaż są częścią większego ruchu, poprzez włączenie stowarzyszeń kół studyjnych/oświatowych, ich rozwój i wpływ są nadal ważne dla szwedzkiego społeczeństwa. W ciągu około 160 lat swojego istnienia stanęły przed wieloma wyzwaniami i przed nimi nadal stoją, o czym mowa w artykule. Celem artykułu jest zbadanie, w jaki sposób państwo ogólnie radzi sobie z edukacją popularną, a w szczególności z FHS, i w jaki sposób FHS i państwo balansują pomiędzy gwarantowniem niezalezności FHS od ingerencji państwa a zapewnianiem wsparcia finansowego, własnej kontroli i monitorowania. Analizując politykę państwa, skupiając się głównie na niedawnym rządowym badaniu (GI), oraz praktykę FHS, przedstawiono niektóre perspektywy FHS na przyszłość.
